Mississippi asks teens with a learner permit for no minimum number of supervised hours before they take the road test.

How much practice is enough?
Even without a required number, driving instructors and insurers generally recommend at least 50 hours of supervised practice across different roads, times of day and weather before a teen drives alone. Logging the drives shows what has been practised and what hasn't.
Keeping the log
Most states ask a parent or guardian to certify the hours, and many have their own form. Keep a record of each drive as it happens: the date, start and end time, how long it lasted, how much was at night, the conditions and who supervised. A log filled in weeks later from memory is rarely accurate.
